Laurent Benzoni (Partner at TERA Consultants) participated at round table organized by International Items on June 19, 2013.

Participants debated on the competition and regulatory issues relevant to the launch of this new mobile technology. The debate lasted for two hours in a very constructive atmosphere. Experts in the telecom sector including Corinne Erhel – Deputy of Côtes d’Armor, Vice-President of the National Assembly’s study group on the Internet and digital society and Co-Chair of the Digital Parliamentary Club, André Mechaly – Vice President for Marketing & Communications Alcatel Lucent Europe, and Puharré Michel – European Marketing Director of the Orange group.

The discussion focused initially on the many opportunities offered by the 4G internet revolution, which has enabled a multitude of new uses (in media, transport, health, trade, and services) and whose limits are only bound by the imagination of users and businesses.

Furthermore, the participants noted that the 4G deployment in France and in the European Union was facing a number of obstacles that had to be overcome in order to have the same level of takeoff in other countries like the United States and Korea.

The summary of the discussion is available here.
